(SLIDELL)--- A Slidell woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a case where she allegedly held her 14-month-old son upside down by the ankle and threatened to harm the toddler with a knife, according to the Slidell Police Department. Slidell Police Capt. Kevin Foltz reports that 25 year-old Bianca Sanders was charged with aggravated assault, cruelty to a juvenile, and child desertion. The incident occurred shortly after 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, in the 2100 block of Middle Drive in Slidell. Capt. Foltz says that officers responded to a call of a woman holding a child by the ankles while brandishing a knife. When they arrived, Capt. Foltz says they saw Sanders in the front yard holding a toddler with a knife nearby on the ground. Officers described the knife as a Master-Chef style knife with an eight-inch blade. According to Capt. Foltz, the officers were able to talk Sanders into letting the child go. The child was turned over to family members after being checked at a local hospital. Capt. Foltz adds that after Sanders was checked out by medical personnel, she was taken into custody. There's no word as to why Sanders was so upset, as Capt. Foltz says that she was just "muttering words that made no sense." |
