(SLIDELL)---For the third time in less than a year, a Slidell man has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged sexual misconduct involving a juvenile, twice on aggravated rape charges and once on a charge of molestation of a juvenile, according to the Slidell Police Department. Slidell Police Capt. Kevin Foltz reports that 33-year-old William Naftzger has been charged with the aggravated rape of a three-year-old. Capt. Foltz adds that Naftzger was originally arrested on September 9, 2007, on the first aggravated rape charge involving an eight-year-old. He says that Naftzger was then released on November 10, 2007, after posting a $100,000 bond. Capt. Foltz says that the second case saw Naftzger charged with molestation of a five-year-old juvenile back in December, 2007. He says that Naftzger was released on that charge on December 26, 2007, after posting a $15,000 bond. Capt. Foltz says that in this most recent case, the three-year-old victim apparently made comments to his/her grandmother leading her to believe he/she was molested by Naftzger. A series of counseling sessions and further interviews with the three-year-old victim by the Child Advocacy Center led detectives to file the latest aggravated rape charge against Naftzger. Slidell Police officials say that all of the incidents apparently occurred prior to Naftzger's first arrest and that there is no evidence that points to him allegedly molesting children after the first arrest. Capt. Foltz adds that if convicted on the aggravated rape charge, Naftzger could face life in prison at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. |
