(COVINGTON)---A Covington man and an Abita Springs woman have been arrested and charged in connection with more than a dozen car burglaries in the Covington and Abita Springs areas, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
St. Tammany Capt. George Bonnett reports that 27-year-old Taylor Walker and 19-year-old Brittney Calabresi have been charged with simple burglary, five counts of illegal possession of stolen things, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Capt. Bonnett says that a license plate number, identified by an alert citizen who went outside and stopped a similar burglary attempt, led detectives to both Walker and Calabresi. As the investigation continued, Capt. Bonnett says that detectives found that Walker and Calabresi may have been involved in a number of other burglaries in the Abita Lakes Estates and Arrowwood Estates subdivisions. Capt. Bonnett adds that search warrants led to the recovery of property allegedly stolen in various burglaries and that some of the property was returned to the rightful owners. Capt. Bonnett says that if victims of car burglaries in those areas would like to view property for possible recovery, he or she should call Detectives Jerry Coyne or Kenny Letort at 985.898.2462. |
