(SLIDELL)---A timely phone call on the part of an informant and quick response on the part of the Slidell Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team led to the arrest of a Slidell man who was listed on the "America's Most Wanted" web site, according to Slidell Police.

Slidell Police Capt. Kevin Foltz reports that 28-year-old Daniel Medina was arrested after Slidell Police confirmed that he was wanted in Crestview, Florida, in connection with a triple shooting incident.

The arrest occurred at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, in the 400 block of Yaupon Street in Slidell. Capt. Foltz says that a person called Slidell Police advising that he/she knew the whereabouts of Medina, who was later confirmed to be on the "America's Most Wanted" web site.

After confirming that Medina was, indeed, wanted by Crestview Police for aggravated battery with a firearm, Capt. Foltz says that Slidell Police SWAT officers surrounded the house where Medina was thought to staying. He adds that the team made entry into the house and took Medina into custody without incident.

"We have seen an increase in people that are wanted in other parts of the country that came to our area after Hurricane Katrina," said Slidell Police Chief Freddy Drennan. "And we are very glad to have been a part of getting this guy in custody to face justice."
