(DENHAM SPRINGS)---A Denham Springs man has been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of a boat motor after a concerned citizen literally watched as the suspect tried to force the motor through a hole that had been cut through a chain link fence, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. Livingston Parish Sheriff Willie Graves reported that 43-year-old Donald Atwell has been charged with felony theft, simple burglary, and driving under suspension. The sheriff said that the alleged theft occurred at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, in the 31000 block of Hwy. 16 in Denham Springs. Sheriff Graves said that a witness told deputies that he saw the suspect, later identified as Atwell, trying to force a boat motor through a hole cut in a fence. Using a description of the suspect's car given to them by the witness, Sheriff Graves said that deputies pulled the vehicle over and took Atwell into custody. The sheriff added that the witness came to the scene and identified Atwell as the suspect he had earlier seen allegedly trying to get the motor through the fence. |
