(GREENSBURG)---Detectives with the Louisiana State Police South District say that they have arrested a St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Office deputy in connection with an investigation surrounding the alleged rape of a juvenile. State Police TFC Louis Calato reports that 39-year-old Jessie Hughes of Pine Grove has been charged with aggravated rape and molestation of a juvenile. TFC Calato adds that shortly after his arrest, on Thursday, June 26, Hughes was fired by the St. Helena Sheriff's Office, where he had been a member of the Communication Division. TFC Calato says that when the St. Helena Sheriff's Office received the alleged rape complaint, they requested that the State Police take over the investigation. He adds that Hughes was then placed on administrative leave without pay. TFC Calato says that after the investigation was complete and Hughes was arrested, he was booked into the St. Helena Parish Jail and then transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. |
