(HAMMOND)---A Ponchatoula man has been arrested and charged in connection with a case where he allegedly fled from a deputy, tossed away a sizeable amount of money, and left a half-ounce of crack cocaine inside his vehicle, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office. Tangipahoa Chief Deputy Dennis Pevey reports that 25-year-old Charles Quinton Williams has been charged with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, resisting an officer by flight, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest occurred on Monday, June 23, near the intersection of Club Deluxe Road and Happywoods Road near Hammond. Chief Deputy Pevey says that a deputy attempted to pull over Williams' vehicle on a traffic violation and Williams apparently kept driving until reaching the intersection of Club Deluxe and Happywoods Roads. At that point, Chief Deputy Pevey says that Williams fled into a laundromat and was seen by a deputy placing something under a piece of cardboard. Chief Deputy Pevey says that Williams was finally taken into custody, some $3,720 in cash was recovered under the cardboard, and a half-ounce of crack cocaine was recovered from Williams' vehicle. |
