(KENTWOOD)---The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office reports that a Mississippi man has been arrested on a drug and weapons charge after a search of his vehicle led deputies to recover cocaine, a handgun, and a substantial amount of cash. Tangipahoa Chief Deputy Dennis Pevey says that 23-year-old Cedric Gray of Lake, Mississippi, has been charged with possession of cocaine and the illegal possession of a firearm. The arrest occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23, on I-55 just north of LA 38 in Kentwood. Chief Deputy Pevey says that a deputy stopped the vehicle Gray was driving for improper lane usage and noticed that Gray was allegedly nervous. Chief Deputy Pevey adds that a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of some 58 grams of cocaine, a .45 caliber handgun that was registered to the Mississippi Wildlife and Fisheries, and $3,400 in cash. The chief deputy adds that officials in Mississippi will reportedly be investigating how Gray obtained the handgun. |
