(ROBERT)---Two Hammond men, wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Mandeville business, remain in the St. Tammany Parish Jail after being arrested by troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop L, just a few minutes after St. Tammany Sheriff's Office deputies informed them to be looking for the pair. St. Tammany Sheriff's Office Capt. George Bonnett reports that 24-year-old Tyrone Morris and 30-year-old Willard Brumfield have been arrested and charged with armed robbery and that bond has not yet been set. It happened at around 5:15 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at a Mandeville check cashing business. Capt. Bonnett says that Morris allegedly entered the business to cash a check, while Brumfield allegedly came in with a gun and demanded cash. Capt. Bonnett says that the pair took an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a late model, red Ford Expedition. State Police TFC Louis Calato says that upon learning of the robbery, troopers stationed themselves at various points along I-12 hoping to spot the suspect vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the robbery near the intersection of I-12 and LA 445 near Robert. TFC Calato says that Morris and Brumfield were inside the vehicle, along with a handgun located on the floorboard and a large amount of cash. Capt. Bonnett adds that both suspects admitted their involvement in the robbery to detectives during questioning. |
