(MANDEVILLE)---Details have not yet been released, but St. Tammany Parish officials say that parish president Kevin Davis is calling a news conference on Thursday, June 5, to reportedly call for the ending of the use of FEMA trailers on private property. In a news release, the director of the Department of Cultural and Governmental Affairs, Suzanne Parsons-Stymiest, says that Davis will announce that on Aug. 29 the Executive Order allowing FEMA trailers on private property will end. The release adds that the order is part of the State of Emergency that was declared in St. Tammany Parish during Hurricane Katrina. The late-morning news conference will be held in the Parish Council Chambers on Koop Drive in Mandeville, where Davis is expected to expand on his plans to allow the order to end. |
