(SLIDELL)---A timely call on the part of an alert citizen led Slidell police to arrest two men on burglary charges after apparently finding both suspects near a vehicle, with one allegedly reaching inside the vehicle, according to the Slidell Police Department.
Slidell Police Capt. Kevin Foltz reports that 18-year-old Ryan D. Lewis of 1585 Hunters Point and 18-year-old Robert J. Crochet of 145 Chamale' Drive, both of Slidell, have been charged with four counts of simple burglary, two counts of criminal damage, and criminal mischief. Capt. Foltz adds that Lewis was also charged with the illegal carrying of a weapon.
Capt. Foltz says that officers were notified that two suspects were opening, going into, and rummaging through vehicles in the Chamale' Cove area. The tip indicated that one suspect had a backpack and a football. Capt. Foltz indicates that officers recovered those items when they came upon Lewis and Crochet, standing near a vehicle with one allegedly reaching inside the vehicle. The investigation led officers to recover items allegedly stolen and found in the backpack, as well as a knife and brass knuckles allegedly found on Lewis.
Capt. Foltz adds that both suspects denied taking part in the burglaries, but then allegedly implicated each other.
