(HOLDEN)---The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reports that a man and a woman have been arrested for allegedly smoking marijuana with 10 children nearby.
Livingston Parish Sheriff Willie Graves reports that 27-year-old Mark Dwayne Holt, Sr., of Holden has been charged with 2nd offense possession of marijuana, possession of schedule III narcotics, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. The sheriff says that bond has been set on Hoyt, Sr., at $301,000.
Sheriff Graves also says that 31-year-old Tonya Neinstedt Garrett of Greenwell Springs has been charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. The sheriff says that bond has been set on Garrett at $251,000.
The incident occurred at around 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 22. The sheriff says that a deputy spotted smoke coming from under an overpass along I-12 near Holden, drove underneath the overpass, and found a campfire with 10 children playing nearby. Sheriff Graves adds that the deputy noticed a smoke-filled car nearby, with an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, and both Hoyt, Sr., and Garrett inside allegedly smoking marijuana.
The sheriff says that the deputy recovered both marijuana and Loratab pills from the vehicle and proceeded to take Hoyt, Sr., and Garrett into custody. The deputy says that Hoyt, Sr., apparently attempted to pull away from the deputy, but the attempt failed.
