(MANDEVILLE)---Mandeville Police report that four people have been arrested and the search is continuing for a fifth suspect in connection with two attacks that occurred along the Mandeville lakefront in April.
Mandeville Police Capt. Ron Ruple reports that the attacks occurred within a 12-hour period back on April 8. Capt. Ruple says that 19-year-old Justin Laborde of Monterey was charged with second degree battery in connection with the incident where a jogger was allegedly attacked near Lakeshore Drive and West Beach Parkway.
According to police, the jogger, who was struck in the head and knocked unconscious, was treated at a local hospital for a broken collar bone and abrasions.
Capt. Ruple adds that 20-year-old Glen Laborde of Mandeville, Justin Laborde, and 17-year-old Adrian Schoreck of Belle Chasse have been charged with aggravated second degree battery in connection with an incident where two teens were attacked some 12 hours later, near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Jackson Avenue. Officials say that 17-year-old Alyssa Addison has been charged with accessory after the fact to aggravated second degree battery and obstruction of justice.
Police indicate that both victims, a 17-year-old white male and a 16-year-old white male, were treated at a local hospital with injuries described as a broken nose, contusions, and abrasions.
Capt. Ruple adds that the search continues for a fifth suspect, 19-year-old Jeffrey Chauppette of Houma, on charges of aggravated second degree battery and second degree battery in connection with both incidents.
Capt. Ruple also says that the investigation indicates that the suspects appear to have had an earlier disagreement with the second two victims, but apparently had no known connection with the jogging victim.
