Elderly citizens in St. Tammany Parish, as well as those who care for them, will have an opportunity to learn more about the growing issue of elderly abuse at a special day-long seminar, set for Monday, June 16, at the Castine Center near Mandeville. Some of the topics to be covered in the seminar, which begins at 8 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m., will include the legal and ethical issues of elderly abuse, vulnerabilities of the elderly, and the role of elderly protective services. There is a $15 per person fee to attend. The seminar is the highlight program of "St. Tammany Elder Abuse Week" that will be set for June 15-21.
