Covington Police Lt. Jack West says that 18-year-old Tavaris Miguel Pam of Madisonville was charged with armed robbery, simple battery, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. (HAMMOND)---Louisiana State Police troopers and deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office will be manning a special sobriety checkpoint in Tangipahoa Parish on Saturday, May 31. Troop L TFC Louis Calato reports that the checkpoint, set to begin at 10 p.m., is an effort to locate impaired drivers and get them safely off of the streets. The location of the DWI roadblock has not been announced.
(COVINGTON)---Covington Police say that a 17-year-old man, recently arrested as part of a drug roundup, has been arrested, again, for his alleged role in the armed robbery of a Covington woman. (SLIDELL)---Slidell Police report that quick thinking on the part of the victim and quicker reaction on the part of store employees led to the arrest of a Slidell man in connection with a purse snatching case.
(MANDEVILLE)---Mandeville Police report that four people have been arrested and the search is continuing for a fifth suspect in connection with two attacks that occurred along the Mandeville lakefront in April. (AMITE)---The Tangipahoa Parish District Attorney's Office reports that a Biloxi man has pleaded guilty to an obscenity charge in the Hammond area following a similar conviction in St. Tammany Parish. (SLIDELL)---Commuters driving near the intersection of Gause Blvd. and Front Street may face delays today, Thursday, May 29, as the railroad crossing there will be closed for repairs until completion, according to the Slidell Police Department. (SLIDELL)---A timely call on the part of an alert citizen led Slidell police to arrest two men on burglary charges after apparently finding both suspects near a vehicle, with one allegedly reaching inside the vehicle, according to the Slidell Police Department.
(MAUREPAS)---A Hammond man who allegedly shot a Kentucky man three times after an incident near Maurepas has turned himself in to detectives this afternoon, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.
(ABITA SPRINGS)---In an effort to help improve the natural habitat of wildlife and various species of trees and plant growth, officials with the Nature Conservancy in St. Tammany Parish are planning to burn some 40 acres of shrubs and thickets near Abita Springs today, Wednesday, May 28.
(PONCHATOULA)---The driver of a pickup truck is dead, and a passenger inside his vehicle remains in serious condition, after Ponchatoula Police apparently tried to stop the truck and the driver allegedly sped away at what officers maintain as a "high rate of speed", according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.
(LORANGER)---For the second time this month, Tangipahoa Parish deputies say they have arrested suspects allegedly involved in the manufacture of methamphetamine, this time in the Loranger area.

(HOLDEN)---The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reports that a man and a woman have been arrested for allegedly smoking marijuana with 10 children nearby.
(SLIDELL)---Four more charges have been filed against the elementary school custodian in Slidell who earlier this year originally faced nine charges in a case where he allegedly raped some students at the school, according to the Slidell Police Department. (LIVINGSTON)---For the second time in a week, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office has uncovered a clandestine methamphetamine lab and arrested two suspects from the town of Livingston. (BOGALUSA)---The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a Bogalusa man on a Jefferson Parish murder charge even as a special fraud unit was investigating the suspect on an allegation that he was involved in disability fraud. (SLIDELL)---Slidell Police are searching for a male suspect who robbed a pharmacist and pharmacy employee at gunpoint, escaping with money and narcotics.
(COVINGTON)---St. Tammany Parish government officials are urging residents to call the Planning and Permit Departments before buying any FEMA mobile homes and park model travel trailers. (SLIDELL)---A Slidell man, who allegedly worked as a public adjuster without a license, has been ordered to "cease and desist" operations until a hearing can be convened, according to the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
(COVINGTON)---St. Tammany Parish government leaders say that the recent raising of the parish's bond rating on Wall Street points to a healthy local economy poised for what they describe as "a strong financial position" in the future. (ALBANY)---The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reports that two Hammond men have been arrested and charged in connection with the armed robbery of a store in the Albany area. (COVINGTON)---A mid-morning fire along U. S. 190 in Covington resulted in serious damage to a mechanic shop, big problems for firefighters battling the blaze and a headache for commuters trying to make their way through the area. (ALBANY)---For the third time in slightly more than a year, an Albany man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged methamphetamine lab, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. (COVINGTON/MANDEVILLE)---The Louisiana Special Olympics Torch is making its way across the state with various groups carrying the flame with honor and tradition. It was much the same when the torch made its way through Covington and nearby Mandeville on May 20.

(TICKFAW)---Floodwaters that led to the closing of the Tickfaw State Park last Thursday are receding, allowing state officials to set target dates for the reopening of the tourist destination. (COVINGTON)---After nearly three months of preparation, it took only a few hours for Covington and state law enforcement officials to roundup 14 suspects in an early-morning drug roundup recently in the Covington area. Customers, and in some cases non-customers, of a local bank are being warned of a possible text-messaging scam on the Northshore, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. The effort to demolish abandoned houses is moving forward in St. Tammany Parish, but government officials indicate that the program will take a little more time as they work through the legal process.

Deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested a Baker man after he allegedly ran naked toward a school bus full of elementary school students near Satsuma.
A Loranger man has been arrested and charged in connection with a counterfeiting case where fake currency was allegedly being passed throughout Tangipahoa Parish. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officials report that a Robert man died as a result of injuries he received in a two-boat accident in Tangipahoa Parish. A two-vehicle accident in Tangipahoa Parish has left a Ponchatoula woman dead, according to troopers with Louisiana State Police. A southeast Louisiana man, wanted in Slidell on a burglary charge and in other south Louisiana areas on similar charges, has been arrested in Orlando, Florida by the U. S. Marshals Service
The development of a new, 25,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in St. Tammany Parish could bring more new jobs to the area over the next few years, according to the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation. A Slidell man has been arrested and charged in connection with a case where he allegedly was growing marijuana plants on his backyard porch. For the third time in a year, a Ponchatoula man has been arrested in connection with a methamphetamine manufacturing case.
