FEMA sent out a press release Thursday advocating that homeowners living inside and outside a high-risk flood area consider buying a flood insurance policy. For added measure, FEMA also sent along this link, which shows people how much it would cost to replace and repair a flood-damaged home, depending on the inches of floodwater.

KaBOOM!, a national non-profit group, raised more than $3.7 million since December 2005 to build 50 playgrounds in the Gulf Coast area. On May 21, the group will begin work on its 50th such project: Drew Elementary School in New Orleans. Read more.
