The guy loves Chris Paul, but thinks only David West is above average among the rest of the guys. ...ESPN's power rankings have the Hornets dropping two spots and the writers saying they're worried about the Hornets, especially after two solid home losses to the Lakers. As someone who has seen most of their games on TV, I have to say I'm not worried, unless you gauge worrying as thinking they can't win the NBA title this year. I think... ESPN's 1/4 year report on the NBA has the usual suspects atop the list for MVP so far, it's going to be hard to deny LeBron James, because the feeling is that he should have won it before and because he is having a monster year, carrying the Cavs into the league with Boston and L.A. Too bad he may have to do another total reconstruction of a franchise if he leaves for New ... Despite a loss at Boston (hardly a sin), the Hornets have jumped up three spots to 7th in the power ratings. Now the key is to see if they can break the stranglehold the Big 3 (Boston, LA, Cleveland) seem to have on the league. ...But really, should they be ranked higher? Is this current streak of six wins in seven games a big deal or a mirage built on the Grizzlies, Thunder and the like. The answer will likely come in the next week and a half when the team plays at Boston on Friday and San Antonio the following Wednesday - both on national TV. ...Ric Bucher of ESPN.com currently predicts the Hornets to finish as the 4th seed in the NBA's Western Conference but he says he sees some problems and he's surprised they are only 10-6 with a very favorable early schedule. ...ESPN's power rankings by Marc Stein have the Hornets 10th. John Hollinger has the Hornets at number 9 though both admit they aren't where they thought the Hornets would be. ... |
