Bradley Handwerger: September 2009 ArchivesThe Hornets are doing something different this year for training camp. They're spending the first week in Lafayette, La., as has been reported. Practices are generally closed to the public. But on Saturday, Byron Scott is opening the scrimmage for fans. There were 850 tickets to be handed out. They all went in 30 minutes. You think the Hornets have a fan base around the state? ...We all know the story of the Hornets from last season. After a push into the upper echelon of the NBA in 2007-08, the Hornets fell back to Earth in 08-09. The players wanted something different, a bonding experience. The answer - head to Lafayette for training camp. The franchise made the announcement on Wednesday....
