Don't look now, but remember last year when the Hornets had a gaudy record, but no one took them seriously and no one had them as a top contender to win it all. Well, it's happening again.

ESPN's John Hollinger has a short blog entry on which 5 teams can possibly make inroads to the league's "Big 4."

Well, the Hornets don't make either list. Based on Hollinger's power rankings the Celtics, Lakers, Cavs and Magic are the power 4. I think that's fair, considering the Hornets 2-5 record against that group. But I have a hard time swallowing that the Hornets aren't considered one of the teams that can break into the elite. He lists the Jazz, Nuggets, Spurs, Rockets and Sixers.

Seems like last year to me. Maybe Hollinger will prove to be correct, but I think he's underestimating the Hornets.
