Namely, he feels the players may not like playing under Byron Scott. ...OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The New Orleans Hornets return to Oklahoma City tonight and for the first time will be the visiting team. The Oklahoma City Thunder host the Hornets tonight starting at 8:30. The Hornets spent most of two seasons playing in Oklahoma City after a hurricane devastated New Orleans. The team returned to New Orleans last year before the Seattle SuperSonics were moved to Oklahoma City this year and renam... (Final) The Hornets fall to 5-5 while the Kings improve to 5-8. (2:51) Good season. Rope fans into caring. Then come out the very next season and lay an egg by underachieving. There's little reason the Hornets shouldn't have been able to put away Sacr... USA Today's game preview says that as goes Chris Paul, so go the Hornets and they point out that he has struggled recently. ...Not that you didn't see this coming, what with losing four of their past six games, but SI.com dropped the Hornets from No. 4 to No. 8 its latest power rankings. Whatever the reason, New Orleans isn't playing the type of basketball we're accustomed to seeing. They'll get a chance Wednesday night at the New Orleans Arena to ge... The Hornets have lost four of their past six games after darting to a 3-0 start to the season. And ESPN has noticed, moving New Orleans down in this week's ranking. But in a way, that's a good thing. ESPN respects the Hornets and expects them to be better. We'll see here in the next month if this team has the chops to get back going again. ...(Final) But Kobe Bryant hit a 3 as the shot clock expired, putting a dagger in this game with 1:08 to play. Unbelievable 4th quarter by the Hornets. This says more about New Orleans, I believe, than the rest of the game. ---------------- Jason... Trailblazer center Greg Oden is set to return Wednesday night, just in time for the game against the Hornets Friday. It'll make the game much more interesting for fans in the Arena, but the 4-3 Trailblazers could be a dangerous threat with Oden up the middle. Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft, missed ... As one Lakers blogger points out, guard Kobe Bryant could pass Larry Bird tonight against the Hornets in points scored. Bryant is 23 points short of passing Bird to become the 23rd highest scoring player in NBA history. ...Well, ESPN.com has put out power ranking for the NBA and lo and behold, despite a 4-2 record with at least one bad loss, the Hornets rate No. 6 Per ESPN: New Orleans lost for the first time this season, losing at home 87-79 to the Atlanta Hawks. Chris Paul finished with 22 points and 11 assists in the loss, while Joe Johnson had 24 points and 7 rebounds for the Hawks in the win. ------------ Wednesday night the Hornets will face off against the Atlanta Hawks, who are off to their best start in ten years. But since they are just 2-0, we're seeing a sign of how bad the Hawks have been over the past decade and how early into the season we really are. The Hornets should have Peja Stojakovic and Tyson Chandler back from the game for Wednesday night as they try to move to 4-0. The stellar play of the bench on Saturday o... The Hornets have been getting some love from ESPN.com lately. Earlier this week in their power rankings they listed them as the second best team in the league. Now, after just a week, point guard Chris Paul is their current pick for MVP. It's an encouraging, albeit e... Despite a sterling endorsement from at least one NBA.com writer, Hornets point guard Chris Paul did not win the election to become the nation's first black president last night. That honor went to Barack Obama. Click the link to see who Rob Peterson would have chosen as Paul's running mate. Here's a hint: The Hornets have beaten his team five times in a r... And the awards and recognition, they keep coming for Chris Paul. New Orleans' point guard extraordinaire was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the season's opening slate of games. It's the fourth time Paul has picked up the honor and it likely won't be the last this season. Paul becomes just the second Hornet to win the award four times. Larry Johnson is the other. "I am thankful for this honor," Paul ... Yes, they are unscientific, and yes, I think the Hornets hit the top of these rankings once last year, and, yes, there is a loooong way to go, but with impressive road wins and a win at home against one of the East's top squads - and without Chandler and Peja to boot, the Hornets are number two in ESPN's weekly rankings. This team is showing that it will be reckoned... (2:07 4th Quarter) The score now? New Orleans leads 96-85. This, I believe, is Hornets basketball. Close games that turn into Hornets wins with good fourth quarter play. It has happened in three games this season. This will be my last post until after the game.... |
