Empty seats

Okay, I hesitated to go here, but after my colleague Bradley Handwerger confirmed for me that there were a good amount of empty seats in Game 2, like I observed in Game 1, I have to ask the question: Who is buying these seats and then not showing up?

Granted, I may not be the best at counting but there had to be several hundred empty seats Saturday night, scattered about, but most prevalent in the corners of the upper bowl. However, there were still several dozen lower bowl (read expensive) seats empty in the bottom half.

Now, this is not the same problem the team had before, I mean the seats are sold and it is a hot ticket, so, if something comes up and you can't go (and Lord knows the late announcement of game dates and times and the wild swings of when you play can impose on one's schedule), just make some calls, I'm sure someone will go.

I just feel for the people who can't get tickets, especially when several hundred seats are unoccupied.

I think what happens is ticket websites buy up huindreds of the tickets when they go on sale to sell and people may not realize they can go to those sites and buy tickets! Also, normal people probably buy tickets expecting to be able to sell them higher than face value, and end up not selling them or not going to the game!

That's really bothers me. I am single with 2 kids who loves going to the game. I try to buy rasonable ticket and I'm told they are sold out. When we look at the game on TV, I see tickets everywhere. Are they trying the force the sale of the higher price tickets?

I agree with you. For Saturday nights game, there many tickets for sale on the streets as i walked from my car to the arena.
what a shame that this happens to a game when so many were locked out of purchasing them for personal reasons.

I can't believe you people are still talking attendance. About how many people are out walking in the corridors? So paranoid about attendance. That crowd was great! It was announced as a sellout. Not a standing room only sellout but a sellout nonetheless. Enjoy the Hornets!

Mo, the point is that MORE people could enjoy the Hornets if whomever is buying up tickets and not going would either: give them away, sell them at a reasonable price or attend themselves. It's a shame when so many people would like to go to the games to see so many empty seats. Maybe the Hornets ae more succeptible to this because the season ticket base is so low.

I gotcha Tom. Yeah that is a shame.

Hey cindy, I will take you to a game !!

The tickets that are being sold by the brokers are being sold to them by the ticket owners. StubHub and all the other brokers usually have the same tickets for sale !!!
And Cindy, I will take you to a game !!!

The same thing happens to the Saints!! Always a sell out and hundreds even thousand of seats are empty!! who are these no shows that donate thjeir monies to sport?

With regards to thos sites out there that always have tickets. It's scam!! if you want to pay double or more for the same ticket you get from ticketmaster!! then you must be rich!! go to craigslists.com, click on New Orleans, then on tickets and you will see people selling their tickets that can't attend for X or Y reason and even at below face value! Another hint, join the Bee-mail and you will get notices ahead of the games for tickets availability!!

Hope this helps some normal Mom's and Dad's who trully want to see a game with their family members!
