WOW!

I'm old enough to remember Pistol Pete putting on a show at game's end - on those occasions when the Jazz won - by shooting and passing and making the other teams dizzy.

Monday night, Chris Paul's fourth quarter reminded me of Maravich. The Hornets were sleepwalking through what looked to be a forgettable loss to Chicago when Paul must have said, 'the heck with this, I haven't hoofed it three quarters on a bum ankle to lose this game.'

In a sequence that lasted about three minutes, Paul hit two, full-speed, driving layups on that bad ankle, nailed a three-point shot, then drew three defenders and threw a pass to Tyson Chandler for a slam that brought the house down. For an encore he also hit a seven-foot shot and assisted on a Bonzi Wells dunk.

I may not have the exact final stats, but it looks like 16 fourth quarter points for Paul who finished the game 15 of 21 from the field.

The crowd was screaming MVP, MVP and that was an MVP performance.
