People said basketball couldn't succeed in New Orleans. Well, while fans are still trying to figure out the amount of support they can give the team, the Hornets are giving fans every reason to support them. And ESPN agrees. The Web site has the New Orleans franchise at No. 2 in its latest power ratings. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

Hellooo New Orleans?! Quit making excuses for not going to the games. I hate all you Saints-only fans. You can be a fan of both teams. Newsflash: In every other city in the country the people are fans of, get this, 3 and 4 teams if they have every sport! Imagine that! Now go see the Hornets.
It's time people stopped using Katrina and the "slow recovery" as an excuse for not supporting a team that is putting out arguably the best product of any in the western conference.
Yes, a third of the city's population is resettling elsewhere or is slow to return home, but HOW MANY OF THOSE FOLKS WERE CAPABLE NBA TICKET BUYERS PRIOR TO THE STORM. Very few, I'd argue.
If New Orleans wants to be taken seriously as a "major league sports city," then it's time to put up or shut up and support the Hornets, who've done as much, if not more, to reach out to the community post-Katrina as the Saints have.
