Got any fishing questions you need answers to? This is one of the best ways to get them to me and get them answered right away. Let's talk!!!....Frank D
how to put a live croker on a hook? ROWDY, HOOK HIM IN THE LIPS, BEGINNING AT THE LOWER JAW AND COMING OUT THROUGH THE TOP JAW (THINK OF IT AS "LIP PIERCING"). THE CROAKER STAYS ALIVE A LOT LONGER USING THIS METHOD. --FRANK D

my husband has promised to get me into the redfish or speckled fish going on forever now. how about you having a drawing of some sort and the prize is that you take someone with you fishing. The only requirement is that the winner just fishes as you do your fish and game report. I just want to go fishing, I don't especially want to be on T.V. We have a boat and we just recently bought a place at Toledo Bend, but I want to go fishing and catch some speckled trout, like you do. Have a safe and happy day. WISH I COULD TAKE A BUNCH OF YOU GUYS WITH ME, BUT BECAUSE OF INSURANCE RESTRICTIONS AND UNION LIMITATIONS I CAN'T DO IT. OF COURSE, ANY OF THE GUIDES ON MY FISHING TEAM WILL BE HAPPY TO TAKE YOU OUT AND HELP YOU LOAD THE BOAT. JUST GIVE ANY ONE OF THEM A CALL. --FRANK D

Frank, I've heard they are going to use some of the bridge concrete to make artificial reefs in Lake Pontchartrain? Is that true? Have they picked locations around the lake yet? Have you had any luck fishing the south end of the Causeway? I never hear anyone talk about catching fish on South shore of Lake Pontchartrain, but I see alot of surface action some mornings when I ride my bike along the levee. THANK YOU!!
MJ...THE USE OF i-10 CEMENT TO BUILD REEFS IN LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN COULD BE NOTHING MORE THAN A RUMOR. . .BUT THEN AGAIN, WHO KNOWS HOW THE STATE AND FEDERAL BOYS THINK. I GUESS WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT THEY DECIDE. AS FAR AS FISHING THE CAUSEWAY IS CONCERNED, CERTAIN SECTIONS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PRODUCTIVE DURING CERTAIN TIMES OF YEAR--NORTH SIDE DURING SPRING AND FALL, SOUTHERN "HUMPS" AT TIMES DURING SUMMER, ETC. YOU JUST HAVE TO GET OUT THERE AND STUDY THE PATTERNS--IT WILL TAKE A LITTLE WHILE, BUT YOU CAN GET PROFICIENT. IN GENERAL, THE LAKE IS A SANCTUARY, A NURSERY GROUND IF YOU WILL, AND IT DEFINITELY HOLDS GOOD CONCENTRATIONS OF FISH AT MOST TIMES OF THE YEAR. . .AT A NUMBER OF SELECT SPOTS. --FRANK D
Hi FRANK, ILOVE YOUR FISHING SHOW, BUT I DO NOT OWN A BOAT. INEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE BEST FISHING SPOT FROM THE BANKS, PLEASE I AM DESPERATE .
Lee...call the station at 529-4444 and ask to speak with Gail Guidry. When she answers, ask her to send you a copy of my "Bankfishing Spots." Just don't spread the word around too much. We gotta keep this spot secret, yeah!

Hi Frank, Where is the best place to launch the boat where it would be closer to travel on water to the trestle in Lake Pontchartrain. I have never fished their before. Where is the closest place to buy live shrimp close to the boat launch that you recommend? Last week I fished at the Causeway bridge and caught a couple of nice drums but I really want to catch some specks. Do you think if I had live shrimp I would have caught some specks by the Causeway bridge or do you recommend just going to the train trestle?
TAYLOR,
GO TO RIGOLETS PASS ON US HWY 90 AND LAUNCH AT THE RIGOLETS MARINA. THEY HAVE A TRIPLE BACKDOWN RAMP, STATE OF THE ART, AND THEY HAVE LIVE SHRIMP. OH--TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, YES, IF YOU HAD HAD LIVE SHRIMP AND FISHED THEM ON A CAROLINA RIG YOU MOST DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE CAUGHT TROUT.
AGAIN...GO FISH THE TRESTLE. BUT SAVE A FEW BIG ONES FOR ME.

we are going fishing soon in grand isle and i would like to know what have people been catching fish on by thelighted fishing pier next to bridgeside marina with
and i would like to know if you know any spots on the way to grand isle that we could have a good chance of catching fish by(we dont have a boat)
YES, CONNOR...
MOST OF THE CATCHES AT THE ISLAND, PARTICULARLY OFF THE BRIDGE, ARE BEING TAKEN ON EITHER LIVE SHRIMP, LIVE COCAHOES, OR MARKET SHRIMP. USE A SINGLE DROP RIG FOR YOUR BEST RESULTS.
PAST LEEVILLE AND PART WAY TO THE ISLAND, YOU'LL SEE A ROADSIDE CANAL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIGHWAY 1. WHEREVER YOU SEE A TRAINNAISSE BLEEDING OFF THE MARSH GRASS INTO THE ROADSIDE CANAL, FISH THERE. THOSE ARE THE PRODUCTIVE SPOTS. OH--AND YOU'LL PROBABLY DO BEST USING MARKET SHRIMP RIGGED ABOUT 12 INCHES UNDER A POPPING CORK. --FRANK D

SAY FRANK,WHERE ARE ALL THE CRABS IN LAKE POUNATRAIN? EVERYTIME I TRY IN THE LAKE IT SEEMS THAT THERE,S NOTHING THERE. DO YOU KNOW THE BEST SPOT IN THE LAKE TO CATCH CRABS? THANK YOU,GLENN DOMINY.
Dear Glenn,
If you're going to crab with nets as opposed to traps, the perimeter of the lake is always better than the other sections. The shoreline along North Shore from Carr Drive Canal all the way to Mandeville, the inside section of Irish Bayou, inside Bayou Lacombe and Bayou Liberty, and even the New Orleans Lakeshore Drive Seawall near New Orleans Airport. The most successful methods will happen from a boat. Crabbing from the bank will produce slower success.

I'm curious....what's the deal with the snub to freshwater fishing? I've been watching you for years, and can't ever recall seeing you freshwater fish! Bayou Black in Gibson, Lake Verret in Assumption, Stephensville by Pierre Part are a few of the freshwater spots I fish, and do good all year. Bass, perch (as big as your hand) sac a lait (12 - 14 in long), plus numerous other pan fish, are caught on a consistent basis at these spots plus numerous others in the Terrebonne - Lafourche - Assumption - Ascension area. Don't forget us freshwater anglers, we're out here also!
