Pass on the Parades...Fish Geoghagen's Canal!

In lieu of Mardi Gras this year, might I suggest that you launch at Rigolets Marina early in the morning on Tuesday, get an update from 'Miss Jackie,' the marina fishing manager, and head directly where she tells you to go!
And when you get there (precisely, Kreeger's Kove at the end of Geoghagen's Canal), begin casting those clear flaked Hybrid Magic Minnows, dipped in garlic-chartreuse dye, and rigged on a 3/8-ounce, round, unpainted leadhead jig. They're eatin' 'em up right now! But you got to fish 'em kinda slow, smack dab on the bottom. And you need to bottom-bounce it a few times during the retrieve. If you do the presentation right, you'll pull in one keeper redfish after the other over the stern, each one a perfect specimen for grilling or baking..
Here's some sage advice for fishermen torn between going to Mardi Gras or goin' fishing!
'If you're under family pressure to go to Mardi Gras, here's what you do: Get up early every morning between now and Fat Tuesday and make your fishing trip. Then head back home, clean your catch, take a hot shower, get in a nap or two, and then go to the parades with the family at night. Of course, Mardi Gras Day might force you to make a critical decision—parade? fishing? parade? fishing? and so on. I can't help y'all with that. That sounds like a family thing to me!'
Of course, if you don’t have the right kind of boat, or tackle, or gear, or if you don't know the lay of the land surrounding Geoghagen's Canal, feel free to book Kreeger for a charter at some point during the next week. It's a can't lose situation! Simply call him at 985-960-3068 or 985-643-2944. Just remember that at this time of year charter fishermen book their over-winter trips rather quickly, so it's gonna be first come, first served.
Meantime, the Geoghagen reds are hungry, they're all averaging about 16 to 19 inches, and they're actually not all that hard to catch. But if you tell your spouse that I suggested this approach to you, I'll call you a liar in federal court! Your move! Enjoy!

Today we made your Mardi Gras Pot Roast and Pan Bronzed Potatoes. We followed your recipe to the letter but found that you didn't say exactly when to put the garlic into the pot. We put it in just before we put the pot in the oven. We like garlic so we cut up 6 cloves. Did we put it in at the right time?
YES...YOU DID IT RIGHT! ADDING THE GARLIC AT THAT POINT GAVE IT ENOUGH TIME TO ROAST AND SOFTEN, BRINGING OUT THE SWEETNESS IN THE CLOVES. THE ONLY THING I WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY WOULD HAVE BEEN TO ADD 30 CLOVES INSTEAD OF 6! SEE, I REALLY LIKE GARLIC!!!--FRANK D
