Join Frank's "Street Kitchen"

Bright and early Mardi Gras morning, out in front of what used to be the Eiffel Tower Restaurant on St. Charles Avenue, the morning krewe and I will host something new this year.....The Frank Davis Mardi Gras Street Kitchen."

You know how every year I do at least one interview with someone along the St. Charles route who is out there at the crack of dawn cooking chicken or ribs or steaks or sausage on anything and everything from the tri-leg BBQ grill to the high-end stainless steel patio cooker with all the bells and whistles? Well, it's not the equipment that counts. . .it's the culinary talent of the cooks.

So here's what I'm planning for Mardi Gras morning this year.

Send me a copy of your best "cook on the street" recipe. Listen, this is going to be a very biased selection. There won't be anything fair about it! The morning krewe will pick out the three recipes that we feel most like eating for breakfast on the street, and then the top three "street cooks" will be notified of their placement.

I will need the recipe, your name, your address, and your telephone number. Deadline for submissions is February 6...winners will be selected on February 13. Then on Mardi Gras morning, you'll be on the curb right in front of my live cameras showing the whole world what "street food" for Carnival really is!

Bring your own grill, charcoal, lighter fluid, utensils, aluminum foil, paper plates, plastic forks and knives, napkins, paper towels, the meat or fish or fowl you plan on preparing, and anything else you will need to showcase all your culinary skills (along with a big dose of your personality) while standing smack-dab in front of my TV cameras. For three whole hours you can be "Master Chef of Mardi Gras." In the end, you won't have to feed anybody who is not in your Mardi Gras party. Of course, the TV krewe really wouldn't mind a little taste, ya' know what I'm saying?
