Hey Frank, can you tell me where to launch in Golden Meadow and from the launch where to fish. I have never fished G.M. before. Is it a vast area that you can easily get lost in or is it fairly easy ? Also do you think it will be a good Saturday to go out? If you were going out, where would you go? Your word is the law. slack lines to you . {That means they are already in the boat.} Thank,Kent Foret

Foret....the best place to launch is down the dirt road behind what used to be called "The Crab Shack" (the sign still marks the spot but the business has since closed down). This will take you to a backdown launch that leads you into Catfish Lake. I suggest that immediately after you read this response you head to your favorite sporting goods store and buy the map of Golden Meadow published by Standard Mapping Co. Then take it home and study it over and over again!!

To answer your question..."yes, you can get lost in the back marshes," which is why you need to study a good map. And yes...it's going to be really hot down there for at least the next two weeks (until the repetitive cold fronts come barreling through). And stay in the marsh--it's where the trout are. Just watch for gulls feeding and shrimp popping.

You'll need a glow beetle on a quarter ounce jighead fish about 11 inches under a popping cork. Or...you can use a factory-rigged Speculizer. Good luck.
