Delacroix...and...Live Bait!

August 18, 2006

I took another look at Delacroix Island recently. The only launch even remotely available was a primitive dirt-and-shell back-down at the very end of the road. When I was there, two fishermen had launched at that spot...but I'd give it some consideration before dropping any decent size boat in there. Keep in mind that there's a very good launch at BSM (and they have live bait, too).
Right around the corner, so to speak, Campo's is once again selling live bait at Shell Beach. So if you need to pick up 50, 100, or 150 and more live shrimp, you can stop in at Campo's.
Speaking of live bait, there are two places to get live bait presently on the North Shore. Rigolets Marina has live shrimp until they run out (which is always rather quickly), and Chef Menteur Marina usually manages to keep live shrimp all the time. Just FYI, y'all! ----Frank D
