With Lane Kiffin being hired at Tennessee and the defensive coordinator position up in the air in Baton Rouge, could Saints defensive line coach Ed Orgeron be thinking of going back to college? That's a good question. Why don't we let the man himself answer that. "Every season in a coach's life there's an evaluation and there's always going to be options," Orgeron said. "In my case, in my first year in the NFL, I love being in the NFL. Obviously there's speculation out there because Lane Kiffin and I good friends. That's the only thing about it. I have not been contacted by anybody about a job." So, no contact from Tennessee. But would he go there if asked? And what about LSU? "I would always consider LSU and I'd always consider Tennessee because the possibility of winning a national championship," Orgeron said. "I like being with the Saints. I could be here awhile." OK. But aren't there parts of the college game you miss coach? "I love coaching in the NFL," Orgeron said. "But the chase and hunt this time of year of going and getting the best player to commit to your team is always something I really enjoy. I really enjoy going against the best coaches in the country and winning." Uh huh. That doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement for a coach who wants to stay in the NFL long term. And Coach O's thoughts on Les Miles? "I know coach Miles only through competition, on the road recruiting, SEC media days and when we used to go down to Florida," Orgeron said. "I have a lot of respect for him. I think I get along well with him and I think he's an excellent coach." 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

too much talk for this not to have some truth, and from too many respected sources (Tim Brando reported this Saturday on CBS). I suspect Orgeron is having difficulty adapting his coaching style to the pros.
