| Jim's thoughts on Mr. Porter, the Saints' second pick... »
Draft Day Report's Al Dupuy was kind enough to sit down and talk with us here at WWL-TV.com about the first round. His thoughts - here you go -- Who came out the best: Kansas City came out really good by getting Dorsey with the fifth pick because most people didn't think he'd last that long. The Saints, I think, giving up what they had to give up, it was an excellent trade. Some of the trades that happened later had to give up two or three picks for players with much less talent than Sedrick Ellis. Getting a fifth in return, it was an excellent pick by the Saints. I watched (him) at the Senior Bowl practice and he was almost unblockable. What was the most questionable selection: Jonathan Stewart, the RB from Oregon, was picked ahead of Rashard Mendenhall, the RB from Illinois. Stewart went 13th to Carolina. I thought Stewart would go a little later and Mendenhall would go a little higher. But Mendenhall lasted 10 more picks. Surprises: Also, Tampa Bay taking cornerback Aqib Talib who had some question off the field problems, admitted marijuana, that was a little high for him in the first round. Dustin Keller, the tight end from Purdue going to the Jets - he's an excellent athlete and he had great times at the combine, which shot him up. But I had him as a possible second round pick.
