Scott Cody's Thoughts from Camp: Lance Moore shows his stuff

Lance Moore is wearing a red jersey again today. But I can't figure out why.

He continued to mix it up and take shots during 1-on-1 drills. Curtis Johnson calls him the best route runner on the team and it showed today. Pretty much uncoverable 1-on-1.

Juke of the day, however, goes to LSU's Skyler Green. He did a stop-and-go against Leigh Torrence and left the cornerback in his dust.

The "uh-oh" moment came from linebacker coach Joe Vitt.

During a second-team scrimmage portion, he began yelling at his linebackers to "check!, check!" They wouldn't respond. Vitt walked up to the line of scrimmage, pushed QB Joey Harrington out from under center and yelled at his three linebackers that included Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Marvin Mitchelll to get off the field.

They were replaced by the 1st teamers.

Rookie free agent running back Herb Donaldson ran hard today. He was a load to bring down and dished out as much punishment as he took. He even showed some quick feet as he made a few potential tackler become flailing bodies.

Hi-lite of the day -- At around 10 a.m. a huge cloud moved over the practice, dropping the temperature by about 10 degrees. A nice breeze came with it. It would only last about 13 minutes.

Other hi-lite of the day -- Tracey Porter made a great defensive play against Devery Henderson, breaking up a Drew Brees pass. Good thing for Porter, because he struggled fielding punts today, as did Skyler Green. It appears Reggie Bush and Lance Moore will once again be the guys back there this year.

As far as the punters, this competition might be over pretty quick. Incumbent Glenn Pakulak shanked wounded ducks all morning. Rookie Thomas Morestead didn't have a great practice, but he at least hit some nice high spirals. Morestead also showed nice touch as the punters tried to "pin" the ball in the corner.

Juan Kincaid has the afternoon practice. See you at 5 and 6 tonight.
