NOPD investigate Hollygrove murder

NEW ORLEANS - Police are investigating a shooting in Hollygrove, according to the New Orleans Police Department.


Around 10 p.m. police officers responded to a shooting, as a victim was shot multiple times in the 8800 block of Edinburgh Street.

Children's cancer camp closes after kids have flu-like symptoms

NEW ORLEANS - A Louisiana camp for children with cancer, closed it's doors early this week, after nearly a dozen children got flu-like symptoms. One child is from Slidell and is now isolated and recovering in Children's Hospital.

New Orleans - Gov. Bobby Jindal has gone on the record in regard to speculation he might run for U.S. Senate.


Jindal said his top priority is to have a strong delegation representing Louisiana in Washington, D.C., and for those lawmakers to be able to erase party lines and work together with the state's best interest in mind.

NEW ORLEANS - A 15-page fiscal report by the state's legislative auditor highlights examples of payroll overpayments and the loss of dozens of computers, some of the problems cited for the second straight year.

City seeks dismissal of taped beating lawsuit

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The city of New Orleans is asking a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit that accuses police officers of using excessive force on a man whose arrest in the city's French Quarter after Hurricane Katrina was captured on videotape.


A trial for the lawsuit filed on behalf of retired school teacher Robert Davis is scheduled to start Aug. 10 unless U.S.District Judge Martin Feldman dismisses the suit.

GRETNA, La. - Police arrested a New Orleans man they believe committed murder outside of a Grenta nightclub, according to Gretna Police spokesman Anthony Christiana.


Eric "Heavy" Bone, 21, is responsible for the murder of Demetrous Jackson outside of the Ceasars Night Club near the intersection of Mardi Gras Boulevard and Monroe Street, according to police.

NEW ORLEANS - Three men arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of two New Orleans teenagers pleaded not guilty at their arraignment in Criminal Court.


Kenneth J. Barnes, 22, Layman T. Foster, Jr., 23, and Gregory Vincent, Jr., 32, each pleaded not guilty in court.

Cash for Clunkers a boom for local auto dealers

Local automobile dealers said they're seeing a big boost in traffic, thanks to the Federal, 'Cash for Clunkers' program, according to the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association.

Thursday night, the Federal government shut it down, saying the money had already run out.

HOUMA, La. -- Houma police have identified the two men found slain Tuesday night.

Police say the victims are cousins, 33-year-old Michael D. Herbert of Houma and 25-year-old Michael Gerard Herbert of Belle Rose.
