The showers we had overnight cleared the coast early this morning and now the skies have cleared as well. It will be partly to mostly sunny today with light northwest winds. Highs should generally reach the lower 60s. Tonight the winds will increase from the northwest from 10 to 20 mph. Winds gusts could reach 25 to 30 mph. These winds will continue into tomorrow and the high temperatures will be held down in the mid 50s. Gale warnings will be in effect starting tonight for the bay and ocean waters around Hampton Roads. Mostly sunny skies will continue through the weekend. Temperatures will rebound to near 60 on Saturday, and Sunday's highs should reach the upper 60s. Next Tuesday afternoon and evening we will have our next good chance of scattered showers. Hurricane "Ida" is battering Nicaragua. The system strengthened to a hurricane just off the Central American coast and is forecast to weaken as it moves over land. After it moves off the coast of Honduras and back over the northwestern Caribbean Sea it is forecast to redevelop and may eventually cross into the Gulf of Mexico. |
