Halloween... A Trick or Treat?

8:24 AM Fri, Oct 30, 2009 |

Conditions really aren't all that scary today. Skies will be variably to mostly cloudy and that should continue into the night. With the clouds blocking the moon, there should be very limited werewolf activity tonight. Highs today will stay in the mid to upper 60s. Northeast to east winds are keeping the tides about one and a half feet above normal. Consequently, very minor blooding... a mean very minor flooding occurred at high tide. With the next high tide this evening, the winds will shift to the east-southeast and the water levels should get a little closer to normal.

Tomorrow, a wicked south wind will blow at 10 to 15 mph and the temperatures will shoot up into the lower 80s. Skies will continue to be mostly to variably cloudy, and a few pockets of light mist or drizzle will still be possible. For the trick-or-treaters, expect temperatures in the 70s with scattered screams and isolated howls. A few showers will be possible later through the overnight to scare off any witches or warlocks still on the prowl.

Perhaps the scariest possibility of all this weekend is forgetting to set your clocks back! Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend so set the clocks back one hour and remember to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Have a happy and safe Halloween weekend and drive carefully Saturday evening. Keep your eyes wide open for the little "Boos and Ghouls!"
