After a stormy end to the work-week, it looks like some sunny skies are set to return to Hampton Roads for part of the weekend. High pressure will build into the region, as the front that brought us the stormy weather Friday evening will drop south of Cape Hatteras. Saturday will feature some morning clouds, and a chance of a shower early, but the sun will try to break through the clouds by late in the day. Expect seasonable temperatures inland with highs near 80, but a sea breeze will keep coastal areas several degrees cooler with highs in the lower to mid 70s. Dry weather and mostly sunny skies will be on tap for Sunday, with highs in the lower 80s. The heat and humidity will return in full force on Monday, with partly sunny skies and highs once again approaching 90. Rainfall totals the past few days have been staggering. The "official" rain gauge at Norfolk International Airport has topped 3" since Thursday. Radar estimates in Southampton County put rainfall totals over 8". Now, it looks like things will finally dry out. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

What would the recent rainfall be in snow inches???
Good question Sandy! We typically use a 10:1 ratio for rain-to-snow - so 3" of rain would fluff up to 30" of snow!! Sometimes, if it's a dry snow, the ration is even higher, like 15:1 or 20:1 - which would result in 45 to 60" of powder!
