A cold front is poised to sweep across the area tonight and a cooler more comfortable weekend is in store. Today, ahead of the front we find another hot and humid day with more isolated to scattered showers and storms developing during the afternoon and into the evening. Some of the storms may become strong, possibly severe, especially in west and in North Carolina. Winds will blow from the southwest and highs will be close to 89°. Once the front passes, the winds will shift to the northwest, and drier air will start moving in. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the lower 80s. There will still be chance of a shower or storm over the weekend. Early next week, temperatures will stay close to normal with highs in the lower 80s. We may see another round of wet weather Monday into early Tuesday. Keep your cool today. Check the radar this afternoon. Have a great weekend! |
