After a hot day Saturday, we should see a return to seasonable temperatures for Father's Day. A cold front that moved through overnight will allow the winds to switch around to the northwest during the day. Partly sunny skies can be expected, with just a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm, especially along the coast. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid 80s. An area of low pressure off the New Jersey coast will remain off the East Coast through at least Tuesday. While this will bring in below normal temperatures for the start of the week, it will also bring in a slight chance of coastal showers each day. Look for highs on Monday and Tuesday near 80 degrees. Finally, while Sunday may be Father's Day, it's also the Summer Solstice. That's the day when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted closest to the sun, making it the longest day of the year. It's also the day astronomer's say is the first day of summer. Of course, meteorologists consider the seasons in nice, three-month groups, with summer beginning on June 1. |
