Isolated to Scattered Wet Weather Possible

8:11 AM Thu, May 14, 2009 |

As we finish up the workweek and head into the weekend, we will face opportunities for showers and storms. Initially the chances aren't great, but I believe we will find some action on the radar over the next several days.

Highs today will be back above normal. The high pressure that was centered over eastern Virginia yesterday has moved east and we now have south and southeast winds blowing across the region.

Ahead of the next front, temperatures will warm. By Saturday we should reach afternoon highs in the lower 80s. A cold front passing through should produce scattered storms and showers overnight Saturday night into early Sunday. Temperatures will cool behind the front.

There are several community events going on this weekend, from Chesapeake Jubilee, to the Greek Festival, to the Tim Ried Celebrity Weekend, and others. Check back at WVEC.com under the radar section of the website to stay updated on any possible showers or storms.
