Today will be another teaser. Just like yesterday, you look outside and think "Wow... It's Beautiful." Of course, you step outside and think "Wow... It's Cold!" ...If you were rooting for snow, all the ingredients aren't coming together this time... ...Now that last night's rain has cleared the area, we have a couple days of relatively nice weather. Some people really love the cold weather, the chance of snow or other types of frozen precipitation, and the benefits of the winter season (low pollen, no bugs, etc.). Still, most people I know have really enjoyed our recent warm-up. If you liked the early taste of Spring try to soak up the weather today because things are about to change. ...With winds gusting between 25 and 40 mph today, you will need to keep both hands on the wheel while driving across the bridge-tunnels. You also need to be very careful when disposing of cigarette butts or working around flames. ...Winds will pick up this afternoon and tonight as the next front approaches Hampton Roads. The strong south winds will blow warm air into the region with highs averaging about 25 degrees above normal. ...Today's weather is much cooler than yesterday, but temperatures are still above normal and with a fair amount of sunshine. I haven't heard too many complaints. Changes will come down the road. ...Changes are coming...but that's not necessarily a bad thing. ...These are the kind of days it's good to be a meteorologist... ...A few years back, I took the Polar Plunge in Virginia Beach in support of the Special Olympics. When I did it, the sun was shining, it was chilly and breezy. I remember the shock and how my heart skipped a beat when I charged out into the ocean and went all the way under water. ...Yes, today is National Weather Person Day. ...At last... several days a tranquil weather in the forecast. Most areas will find mostly sunny skies today, but it will be very cold with highs in the upper 20s to lower 30s. We may find a few more clouds at times near the shore if a bay-effect plume develops but the chance of that is very low. Expect a bitterly cold night tonight with temperatures well below freezing. Low levels are still very dry but a few light snow returns are showing up on our WeatherLab High Definition Radar. ...Two weeks ago the forecasting community (myself included) in Hampton Roads took one on the chin as we called for snow (1-4") across the area and we got little more than flurries.
