The latest on the smoke and air quality from the 13News Weather Lab... The wildfires in the Great Dismal Swamp and Tyrrell and Hyde Counties will likely burn for several days. Smoke plumes from both fires have shifted to the north, bringing the smoke across Hampton Roads, reducing visibilities and giving the area a Code Orange air quality. Across North Carolina, the air quality is worse, resulting in a Code Purple. Indications are the winds will shift to the west and north on Sunday, pushing the smoke plume back into North Carolina. However, winds will switch back to the southwest on Monday, bringing the areas of smoke back into Virginia. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |
This Saturday has been aweful for me! I have uncontrollable asthma and I have just been getting worse all day!I hope the rain can help this fire out some.
Today was a bust for us as well. My husband was going to take our boys golfing at the First Tee at VB National golf course but the smoke made it just too hard to breathe. We all stayed inside for most of the day. I am praying for rain! We need it anyway. Our grass is brown!
