It was a nasty morning over parts of Southside Hampton Roads. The light SW winds early this morning carried thick Dismal Swamp fire smoke across much of Chesapeake and parts of Virginia Beach. Visibility was down below one mile at times and the smoke made breathing more difficult, even for healthy adults. The weather pattern will change a bit this week. Early Monday a cold front will come through and bring about a much needed wind shift. We will also enjoy temperatures closer to normal with highs in the 80s. Unfortunately, the showers and storms associated with the front will likely be scattered. We need a prolonged significant rainfall (3-6") to do away with the smoke. Until the front comes through, it looks like another day with more smoke... and more heat. |
