April 2008 ArchivesIn Virginia's history we only know of 2 category 4 tornadoes. Today might have been the 3rd. Tornadoes are ranked on something called the Fujita scale. For decades the scale remained unchanged. In early 2007 it was modified slightly and became the enhanced Fujita scale. ...Finally, it looks like the wet weather will come to an end, and we will have a nice end of the week. But we really put a huge dent in our rainfall deficit. Back on Saturday, we had a rainfall deficit of 4.03". But we picked up a lot of rain over the weekend and into the start of the week.
That brings our deficit to 0.84". Of co... It was a busy afternoon in the Weather Lab, as severe storms moved through western Hampton Roads. But it seems like we escaped some of the stronger storms. Near Sparta in Carolina County, the National Weather Service reported a possible tornado, damaging a barn. And east of Mechanicsville in King William County, another barn was damaged as witnesses reported seeing a tornado as well. ... |
