You have now lived through the warmest February 6th ever in Hampton Roads... We blew past the old record of 75 this afternoon, reaching 80 degrees. Of course, that "official" reading came at Norfolk International Airport. So some of you may have been a bit above that, others slightly lower. But it was definitely an atypical February day! (I guess it's also worth pointing out that records have been kept since 1870, so it's possible some early Virginians had a hotter 2/6, but it's not nothing to break a 138 year record.) In case you're wondering, the record we broke in Norfolk was only set four years ago. But in Richmond their high of 77 beat 71 from 1938. That must have been a warm year because the previous record of 77 that fell in Elizabeth City today was also set in that year. (EC made it to 78 today.) If you like the warmer weather, hope you enjoyed it! If not, cooler air returns Thursday, though it will still be above normal in the 50s. |
