We are still getting reports of a couple of inches of accumulation from the northern and inland areas, and it is still snowing, and will continue for another few hours. But......for the more populated areas like most of Newport News, Hampton, and most of Southside, the hours and hours of snow is not accumulating and I don't see a whole lot sticking later. That will be especially true for the Southside which is just a touch warmer. There will be up to an inch in a few spots, mainly on grass and rural streets, but there will also be some spots that get 12 hours of snow with no accumulation, other than a minor amount on grass.

Wow Wakefield did kinda bad on this one. And the artic air seems to not be infiltrating as previously thought. A couple days out this looked to be a pretty nice snowstorm, but not so as many of these 'potential' snowstorms are in our area coupled with the following lead story on each local newscast "Hampton Roads Dodges A Winter Bullet"
10:50 p.m. - BIG flakes falling in Great Neck area of Va Beach! Yippee! Also starting to stick to the grass! Good thing too, because my 6-year-old went to bed tonight anticipating a "white" morning! Whew! As far as I'm concerned.......keep on SNOWING! And, I'm hoping for dropping tempuratures so this stuff will stick around until morning. Yippee!
Well here in Norfolk we got a lot of snow but nothing stuck around. I noticed that the weather was very inconsistent. Even as of midnight the snow was mixing with rain or even all rain at times. Temperatures are still above freezing early this morning. I think everyone overestimated the time the arctic air would arrive. At the moment there are LOTS of puddles on the street and the plants are all covered in water. Im slightly concerned that with below-freezing temperatures and the wind off the river (I live on the water) some branches may come down tomorrow. Who knows, we might even see a little of that bay effect snow! I have my fingers crossed! This week could have more storms! Looks like you will have a busy week in the weather lab. I also just wanted to thank you guys for getting the weather radar/graphics in 16:9 widescreen too. They look great! Keep up the great work!
As far as I'm concerned YET ANOTHER missed call by our local meteorologist(s). If I had a dollar for every alert received from Lawson on Saturday regarding the winter weather. What winter weather??? I didn't mention anything to either of my children about the possibility of accumalating snow because I have grown accustomed to poor forcasting on your meteorologist(s) part. Boy was I right. Meteorologist... i sure wish I could be wrong more than I'm right and still hold my position at the workplace.
