If you look at many decades of statistics, our daily temperatures should be warming up as we go forward the rest of the winter. At least if the averages work out anyway. The coldest our average daily high gets is a 47 degree reading during the 3rd week on January. Our coldest average low is typically 32 and is also at it lowest point around January 18th. So, here we are in the final week of January and already our average high is up to 47 and our average low will go up in a few days to 33. Now, I know that doesn't seem like much, but the rate of acceleration in the averages is a bit faster in mid February, and very pronounced by the end of the month. The bottom line though is that statistically we are "over the hump". Then again you know what they say about statistics. |
