Fri eve. update on the storm

11:06 PM Fri, Jan 18, 2008 |

Well, things are still looking like snow for parts of the area and rain for others. The rain will primarily be across coastal NC, although at the beginning or the storm many spots will see rain, and near the coast of Virginia it may stay a mix of snow and rain for quite a while after the rain changes over.

Accumulations should be from a dusting to 2 inches for Southside and NE North Carolina with any other location seeing a good chance for 2-5". Amounts will depend on how quickly the changeover happens from the rain or the mix. If the change occurs during the afternoon then you are likely to see the higher amounts. If the change is delayed in your area until evening then amounts are likely to be much lower.

We will know even more by tomorrow (Saturday) and be able to give a more definitive answer, but right now it looks like an accumulating snow for many of us.
