Thar she blows!!!

8:37 AM Fri, Nov 02, 2007 |

The winds will really crank up through the afternoon and evening thanks to a huge difference in air pressure between the cold front (and "Noel") which are to our south/east and a strengthening ridge of high pressure to the north/northwest.

The result will be winds of 20-40 mph over parts of the area this afternoon and evening with gusts over 50 mph near the beaches. The winds may get a bit stronger overnight.

Besides being potentially destructive, the winds will likely drive tidal water levels 1.5-2.5 feet above normal. That means there could be minor coastal flooding at high tides this afternoon and overnight.

It's going to be a busy night in the 13News Weather Lab, but we'll be tracking the wind and water levels for you!

Keep watching 13News for more information on the developing situation.
