I have heard from a lot of folks over the past couple of days. Some like it warmer, others a lot colder. I am interested to know what you like. The cold front that swept through kicked up a lot of wind and some rain, but the cooler conditions have returned for the weekend. We'll see another cool push of air for Monday and then things will warm as we head towards Thanksgiving. You might be surprised haow many people tell me how happy they are that it really feels like Fall now. While the milder conditions through the cold months allow us to stay more active outdoors and ease our heating costs, it just doesn't seem right having temperatures in the 70s and 80s in November. We won't feel that kind of warmth soon, but this is Hampton Roads, check back with us in another hour! I also want to answer the question about the sudden spike in the tide level. The abnormally high tide yesterday was wind driven. The tides rose about a foot above normal just as the sustained winds were blowing the strongest from the north and northwest. The southern part of the bay and Hampton Roads saw sudden increases, south facing coastline farther north in bay would had lower than normal tides. Have a great weekend and enjoy the Grand Illumination and parade! 3 CommentsLeave a comment |
Craig: Listen to you, Janet & LaSalle each AM & throughly enjoy the "wake-up". I have just received an e-mail from a friend with some "weather" pictures and thought you might like to see them. They are of something that I've never seen before nor have I heard of. They are of "mammatus clouds" and were taken at some college in Nebraska. It says that they are of a rareity. Thought maybe you could talk about them some A>M. I'm sure some of your other listeners would also be interested to know about them. Thank You for you good weather reporting and keeping us so well informed. Besides having such a terrific AM show I must comment on the three of you being the BEST DRESSED in this area.
Years ago when I was in the Eighth grade in elementary school in the Bronx, NY I had a teacher and her name was Florence Moeller - she was the best - she taught, English and Art.
Please let me know if you would like me to forward the pictures I was talking about.

Craig, I'd like 75 and sunny year round if you could arrange it.
I would like for those giving the weather as it gets colder, to remind those who have pets to remember that they need to be brought inside, and why.
Unfortunately, some people do not get it, that animals need protection from the elements.
Thanks a million for reminding everyone, because the animals'voice is us.
