Whining about the weather
I've been accused by one 13News producer, Pearl Fyderek, of using this blog to give my personal version of the Hampton Roads weather report. This is not one of those blogs. Well, not really.
As we've been having rollercoaster weather here -- one day the high is 35 degrees, the next it's 70, my parents have been getting hammered in Central California.
As Dad put it last night, "For the first time in a month, the 7-day forecast actually has sunshine penciled in."
After years of crippling drought, the Sierra Nevada's are getting pounded. In Plumas County, 15 feet of snow has fallen. Last night, a friend at the ABC station in Sacramento did a liveshot in Grass Valley (elevation 2,400 feet) with snow covering his shoulders, head and even eyelashes. It makes the snow storm I covered on the Peninsula a few weeks back look like peanuts.
While I'm definitely not a fan of the windy, bitter cold we've seen off and on, it's better than digging out of the "white stuff" (I put that term in just for 13News producer Tony DiPolvere. He hates it.) every morning.
