It's that time of year again. The time when homes across the country glow from strands of lights, radio stations begin to play their holiday playlists, and of course, organizations have their holiday parties. Last weekend we had our WVEC holiday celebration.
It was a blast. It's always fun to see your co-workers outside of the blue walls of the newsroom and without the stress of work hanging over their heads. Everyone seems much happier, a little bit goofier (although we certainly have our moments at work as well), and of course a little bit more dolled up. It's especially nice to see our photographers and production staff all dressed up. During the daily work grind they're responsible for dragging around equipment and making the show look pretty, so they generally don't wear their Sunday best to the station. So it's a fun change to see them in their suits, ties, jackets, and dresses. They look good!
And of course, I have the photos to prove it. Somehow I managed to take 84 pictures during the course of the evening. Yes, you read correctly... 84 photos! I know it's ridiculous, and I was shocked when I went to download them on my computer. But there they were, 7 DOZEN pictures.
Obviously, I was a little bit camera happy. I tend to get that way at fancy events, or parties, or any celebration for that matter. I have scrapbooks piled up at my apartment filled with photos, and piles of pictures waiting for me to put them on their proper page. It's a hobby... and sometimes a bit of an obsession. You see, I'm a sucker for reminiscing. Often I find myself looking through old albums, reliving moments, and laughing at things from the past.
I already have a big stack of photos of my new friends here in Hampton Roads. And I'm glad I now have a few more to add... 84, to be exact.
